Support the Diabetes Management Program

TAHEC was established to increase the number of health care professionals and to improve access to health care in rural and underserved communities in Central Alabama.  TAHECs catchments area includes nineteen (19) counties in Alabama's Black Belt.  TAHEC was incorporated in 1972, as a part of a system of AHEC’s to address the problems related to health resource shortages prevalent in rural areas of Alabama.

 

The funds will be used to support the Diabetes Management Program throughout the state of Alabama.  The Diabetes Management Program will provide health screenings for individuals who might have diabetes, will follow treatment for those who are diagnosed and do not have ready access to healthcare providers due to transportation or other challenges.  The Diabetes Management Program will also host an annual diabetes conference for those living with diabetes and their caregivers. It will also provide up-to-date information for healthcare providers.
