Model AHEC

The Morehouse School of Medicine's (MSM), Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) Program was established in 1984 and currently receives State Model AHEC funding.  Not only does the MSM State Model AHEC Program include Georgia AHEC Centers, but also the Tuskegee, Alabama AHEC (TAHEC, Inc.) which serves 19 counties in Central Alabama.

TAHEC, Inc. is the only AHEC in the state of Alabama, and while it is partially funded to serve 19 counties, TAHEC covers the rest of the state.

TAHEC staff offered more than 800 educational programs for physicians, residents and other health care professionals over the last three years.  TAHEC co-sponsored several conferences where over 1500 persons were in attendance.  TAHEC conducts summer enrichment programs for students grades K-16 as a way of preparing to meet the health care needs of all Alabamians.
