Learn and Serve Program:
Students (Tuskegee University students) who qualify for Federal Student financial aid can learn, earn and serve the community. TAHEC's Learn and Serve Program (SL) offers an opportunity for students to learn through community service. TAHEC has partnered with Tuskegee University's financial aid office to place students who qualify for financial aid to spend their work-study time learning and serving the community.
TAHEC has identified five students who have declared majors in health or health related occupations. Those students have been placed in Occupational Therapy, Specialty and Diagnostics and Pharmacy Services. LS is a win win situation for the students, patients, and staff at CAVHCS. The students get hands on experience, the staff gets an extra hand and the patient gets more attention and better health care delivery.
Students may choose to volunteer their time in other community agencies as well. Other agencies include DHR, Headstart, Macon County Retired Senior Volunteer Program and Macon County Sickle Cell Foundation. For more information, call Mary Hooks at (334) 727-0550 ext. 3590 |
